In October 26 of 2003, the indies band RusH, where Misa played as support guitarist, disbanded. Quickly after, in November, Youki and Takuma (former guitarist and vocalist of RusH, respectively) called up Misa telling him they were planning to form a new band.
In December, the new band was ready: BABYLON. With Misa on guitar, chorus and programming, Youki on guitar, Takuma on vocals, kazuki (who, like Misa, was a support member in RusH too) on drums and Haku on bass.
Even though it seems like a revival of the band RusH, Misa was no longer a support member, he became the main composer along with Youki, and eventually the band leader.
BABYLON's label turned out to be TEMPLE music entertainment, the same label Misa started with Klein Kaiser in 1999.
Since the band was made of members who had been on the visual kei scene for quite a long time, fans of their previous works were anticipating them a lot on this new project. And so, their first CD reached position no. 16 on the oricon indies chart, not bad at all for a new band's first release ever.
At first, Misa and Youki shared the songwritting almost 50% & 50% in every CD; however in their 3rd CD all of the members got to compose at least 1 song, while Misa and Youki added 2 each. Youki left the band in december of 2004, a year after the band started, and kazuki left in march of 2005. Newcomers guitarist Toki and drummer Mikage filled the gap and BABYLON were a 5 member band again, this time they decided to not credit anyone for each song anymore as they've been doing in 2004, and just wrote "All lyrics, music, arrangements: BABYLON". But it's not too hard to notice which songs are Misa's, and even though his songs are the vast majority, the other members also write songs.
Mikage and Toki eventually left, reducing BABYLON to only 3 members by the end of 2005, but they continued on, and even released a mini-album and performed an one-man. This was proof that BABYLON is a strong band maintained by pillars Takuma, Misa and Haku who showed real interest in keeping the band alive. But this 3-member line-up didn't last too long as drummer Ryouichi and guitarist Maya joined in mid 2006.
2007 was the most inactive year for the band, after a oneman performance in april and the release of an album, BABYLON remained mostly inactive the rest of the year, only performing in a few live events sporadicly, and though they returned to perform a 2-days oneman in october 19 and 20, they didn't release anything new nor had any news concerning future plans for the band.
2008 arrived, and Maya announced his departure in february, but soon after that the OHP was redesigned and in march a new guitarist joined: Sae.
With this new line-up, BABYLON started 2008 releasing a maxi-single in May, followed by a full-lenght album in June.
Even thought the band was doing pretty well, in February 13th, 2009, Misa announced he was going to leave the band due to personal reasons. Even without the leader, the 4 remaining members continued live activities. In June 28th, 2009, BABYLON had their last live, a oneman show commemorating their 5th anniversary, and then the band dissolved.
As of now, Misa is still managing Temple, producing the indies band Toon-f, and playing support guitar for Yoshinori Sugimoto; while the rest of the members went on to perform in various session bands and support for other bands.
